Welcome to the UCLA Badminton Club!UCLA Club Badminton welcomes players of all skill levels—from beginners to A-level athletes. We offer both recreational and club hours, so whether you’re looking to casually play or seriously train, there’s a place for you. Our competitive team competes in the Southern California Collegiate Badminton League (SCCBL) and various tournaments year-round, with tryouts held annually. Beyond the court, we host socials and fundraisers to build community and make lasting memories.Come join us to play, improve, connect with people, and share your love for badminton!

MEMBERSHIP INFO


How to join?

To be a registered club member,1) Visit https://apps.ideal-logic.com/uclaclubsports and click on “clubs”2) Find badminton and click “join now”3) Fill out all of the forms. This includes attaching a Pre-Participation Physical Exam (PPE) form and completing a 20-minute concussion training. To get a PPE, you can schedule one with your medical care provider. We also recommend making an appointment at CVS MinuteClinic: https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/services/sports-physicals. A PPE lasts two years.4) Pay club dues. You can pay $50 for a quarter membership or $85 for a full-year membership.


What's the difference between Club and Team?

The club is open to everyone, but we do host tryouts for the team. The team consists of ~20 guys and ~20 girls and represents UCLA at meets and tournaments throughout the year against other schools (USC, UCSD, etc.). If you do not make the team, you are still welcome to join the club.

Club Hours

Times:Tuesday: 9:15 PM-11 PM
Friday: 8:15 PM-10 PM
Saturday: 2 PM-4 PM (not all Saturdays due to conflicts)
Sunday: 3:30 PM-6:00 PM

Pardee Gym at JWC is currently under renovation and will resume hosting badminton when it reopens; date to be announced.

RYAN MA

Hey! I'm Ryan, a 3rd year MCDB major, who's on the premed track. I started training for badminton around 6 years old, but actually picked up a racket when I was 3. I've loved playing it ever since and have traveled across the country for various competitions. Off the court, my other hobbies include watching other sports, traveling, and tasting all kinds of cuisines. I also recently got into hiking and am currently trying out different trails across LA.

DANIEL BIELIN

Hey guys! I hail from Fremont, CA (like half these bozos) and I’m a fourth year neuroscience major and public health minor. I started playing badminton when I was 7 years old, and I competed a lot when I was younger. My hobbies include listening to podcasts, cooking and playing video games. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi!! My name is Ellen Zulkarnain, and I'm an upcoming 3rd year. I've been playing badminton competitively ever since I was 7 years old, and have been part of the UCLA badminton team for the past 2 years, where I absolutely I love our time at meets and hanging out with people at club hours. Besides badminton, I also love doing jigsaw puzzles, making silly little drinks, reading, and playing with my dog, Mars!

VICTOR KIM

Hello! My name is Victor and I am the Treasurer for this year. I started badminton in high school as a hobby, but I've always been on-and-off with golf and baseball.My hobbies are listening/playing/producing music, mixology, and cooking. So if you ever want to get into whisky and cocktails, I got you! 😎 Looking forward to a great 2025-2026 school year :)Fun fact: I'm mixed-handed (mostly right) and have cross-eye dominance!

I discovered my love for badminton in elementary school, officially joining the professional team in 2014. I've been playing badminton for over 10 years now! Badminton has taught me so much, including perseverance, teamwork, and the joy of always striving to be better. Off the court, I’m an all-around sports enthusiast who loves trying new activities. I also enjoy dancing, especially to K-pop, capturing beautiful moments through photography, and cooking delicious dishes to share with friends ^^

I come from the distant land of Massachusetts (not rural by-the-way), where I started playing at my local gym as soon as I was old enough to hold a racquet. I started training when I was nine and have been playing since. When I'm not on the court, I enjoy drawing, thrifting, and taking naps.

Hiiii!! My name is Angela and I'm a fourth year mcdb (molecular, cellular, and developmental biology) from Seattle, WA! I started playing badminton when i was 12 but then started competing more seriously for it when i was 14. I'm glad i can continue enjoying badminton in college and expand this sport to those who may not know about it. outside of badminton I love cooking / baking, exploring specialty cafes, hiking (pnw hikes are top tier), and spending time with my younger brothers!If you ever want premed advice or just a yap session in general feel free to reach out hehe :)
